Green Values - Nosara Bed and Breakfast Hotel - Playa Pelada, Nosara, Costa Rica

We are an ecologically minded hotel in the process of getting certified by the Costa Rican Sustainable Tourism Board. Since purchasing the property in 1989, our intention has been to encourage the natural growth of the jungle (tropical dry forest) adding fruit trees and flowers whenever possible without altering the wild character of the land. Our property is a habitat for passing howler monkeys, parrots, hummingbirds and numerous other bird species, butterflies, pizotes, iguanas, squirrels, mapaches, armadillos, toads, geckos and crickets.

We use biodegradable cleaning products and are in the process of implementing a gray water system for irrigation. We compost food and garden waste to create rich organic fertilizer for the plants and fruit trees which include Mango, lemon, star fruit, papaya, guanabana. In our nursery, we grow seedlings of local plants, flowers, and fruit trees to plant around the property. We have a vegetable and herb garden and are in the process of helping to organize an organic garden for the local community and at the nearby public and private schools.

We border on a protected forest area and are just minutes from a nature preserve. On our walking paths you can see numerous native tree and plant species. We invite you to come enjoy the beauty of this natural paradise.
