By Car from Liberia Airport- 2.5 hours.
To get to Nosara driving from San Jose or Liberia you first head to Nicoya then to Samara. Instead of heading left to the center of Samara, make a right and continue heading north, you will pass through numerous small towns but stay on the main road. It is about 25 kms or 16 miles to Nosara from Samara.

Just before you get to the center of Nosara there are signs leading to Playa Pelada and Reserva Biologica Nosara, make a left here and follow the signs to Nosara B&B. If you pass the gas station on the right side of the rode, you've gone too far.

By Bus From San Jose - 6 hours.

The direct bus leaves daily from the Alfara / Coca Cola Bus Terminal in San Jose daily at 5:30AM. A return bus Nosara-San Jose departs daily at 12:30 pm. The cost is about $8.00.
Keep driving along the paved highway to the City of Nicoya (large town). When you are almost to Nicoya, you will come to an intersection with a 4-way red flashing light - there will be signs indicating a left turn into the town of Nicoya.

Drive straight through Nicoya on the "main road"... No turns. Drive slowly, as there are a lot of pedestrians in this bustling town. You will eventually exit town on the other side. Continue driving southward on the paved road approximately 30km. There will be some twists and turns, but just stay on the main paved highway.

Eventually you will see a large Gas Station on your left. There is also a hardware store and little "soda" cafe for snacks and drinks. Stop here and get gas... it's the last chance on your way to Nosara!

Right after you leave the gas station, the concrete highway makes a sharp curve to the left. At the apex of that curve, you will notice a small dirt road turning off to the right, downhill. Turn right onto this road, it is the road to Nosara.

This dirt road is about 25KM, but takes over 1 an hour to drive.... There are more turns and twists, but stay on the "main" road. You will pass through many small towns and villages. At the T-intersection, turn right (there is a sign pointing to the right to Nosara).

Continue about ten minutes past the seaside town of Garza, then past the Nosara Yoga Institute on the left, then Nosara Development (Play Giones). Keep driving past the Playa Guiones area, following the signs leading to Playa Pelada on the left, At the crossing, where five roads meet, look on the left for the sign to Nosara B&B Retreat ( If you pass the new gas station, you've missed the turn and gone too far.) The most direct route is taking the road up the hill, continue along until you see the yellow concrete pillar on the left, go left down the hill, and then take an immediate right turn and then an immediate left into the driveway with the sign, Nosara B&B Retreat.

By Car From San Jose - 5 hours. Cars can be rented at the airport and in Nosara from various different companies.

Directions from San Jose:
Driving from San Jose to Nosara, you will take the main Interamerican Highway (Carretera Interamericana) north out of San Jose (past the large international Juan Santamaria airport). This highway travels north and west toward Guanacaste Province.

You'll follow the Inter-American Highway as it rises out of the Central Valley and winds through the mountains. Eventually the highway will flatten out and straighten into a more northerly course.

Follow this flat stretch of highway for a couple of hours. Shortly after you notice highway signs for Puntarenas, look for the signs pointing to the "Puente de Amistad" (the new bridge over the Tempisque River). This will be a left turn, but the signs are on the right side on the main Inter-American Highway.

After you cross the new bridge you will be on the Nicoya Peninsula!
